Rutabaga Ranch

Jaymie and Robbie searched for some time before they purchased the home of The Rutabaga Ranch in June of 2019, a beaten- up 150- year- old homestead nestled into the little sleepy town where they were both born. They saw behind the scars of time and were determined to bring their, new- to- them, old farm back to life. Neighbours have described the location as “One of the prettiest dairies around back in her day.”

With plenty of hard work ahead of them, they began cleaning up the property and now continue to restore the homestead to its former glory.

Jaymie and Robbie knew the undisturbed pasture/hay land settled between their family farms would be the perfect place to start setting roots for the ranch. They were rewarded greatly for their hard work when a soil sample revealed the ground beneath them was naturally fertile land which could grow the high-quality, nutrient-dense food they were striving for.

They aim to honour what we remember fondly from our great grandparent’s era– chickens, cows, carrots and cabbages as part of the foundation of a complex system, working together.

With plenty of hard work ahead of them, they began cleaning up the property and now continue to restore the homestead to its former glory.

“THE MAGIC OF GROWING IN SYNC WITH NATURE CAPTIVATES US, AND WE ARE GRATEFUL TO BE THE LIFELONG STUDENTS AND STEWARDS OF OUR LAND.”
